SIXTH WEEK OF MATILDA
SINGING LESSON: In this lesson we practices all performances for showcase and developed skills.
We started of the lesson by practising nothing like a dame, the whole class struggled with it a bit as it had been a while since we last practices it so choreography wise it was lacking. But Sam our teacher found that our projection was not good enough either so we ran through about three more times until everyone was satisfied with a performance. Emily soon pointed out that we hadn't done a warm up so projection was quite difficult without warming up our vocal chords. We then did a quick warm up before continuing which consisted of a breathing exercise to help with projection and breath control, we breathed in do 4 and breathed out for 8 we did this a couple of time before moving on to scales. We than sang ta on a c and held that note for 8 count before going up the scale repeating the same thing, this also worked on projection and maintaining it which encouraged us to use our diaphragm. Then we sang las,f as, and gas in William tale overture to finish up our warm up.
After our warm up We sang through seasons of love a couple of times. We then practised school song daisy's group went first and their characterisation was incredible even though it was just a rehearsal. Our group then practised ours and our choreography was definitely much stronger and more impactful but I felt my characterisation wasn't good enough. At the very start I have to turn but I always smile when I'm supposed to be serious. I feel that I have improved on all my previous target except my confidence and characterisation, when I'm at home and I practice I can be that intimidating character but when I perform it to people I get nervous and I just don't do it. I need to keep on practising in front of people more in order for me to get out of this habit.
DRAMA LESSON: This lesson we spent more time rehearsing school song as our dance lesson focused more on the other performances in the showcase. We did a quick scales warm up to just loosen our vocal chords, but it was just a quick warm up as we wanted to spend the lesson working on the showcase. After practising other song in the showcase we focused our attention on doing run through s of the school song, Nadine watched these run through and clarified certain moves that we did differently as a group. For example she clarified when we stamped on the word "energy" as we were doing it on different times we then decided on stomping on the letter G. Our run through s went well and our projection was very good and the choreography was strong. SO we just practised and practices as the show case was next week.
